Interested in getting a gun in Israel?
Here is what you need to know

In Israel, not every person is allowed to carry a firearm. To qualify for a license you have to meet the standards of the Ministry of Public Security. For example, a person who lives in a specific community that the Ministry has defined as a hazardous area to live in or travel to is allowed to apply; in addition, the person must not have a criminal record and will need to pass a weapons training and qualification course.

When you receive a gun license in Israel that license applies to just one specific weapon, and you can only buy a handgun or a weapon for hunting.

In order to get a gun in Israel you have to meet the following criteria:

  • You must be a resident of Israel for at least three years.
  • You must be at least 27 years old if you did not serve in the army or 21 if you did.
  • You must have a good understanding of Hebrew (written and spoken).
  • You may not have a criminal record

Licensing Process and Procedure

To get started you'll need a declaration of health signed by your doctor and a letter from your local government council stating where you live.
Once you have those documents, go to the MOPS website and fill out the online Private Firearms Licence application.
At the end of the application, you will be asked to upload the letter from your doctor and the letter of residence. Your documents will be sent to the police and Ministry of Health and if all goes well you will receive a message inviting you to an interview at the licensing office.
Click on the link in the message to pick a day and time to go in for the interview.
After the interview, you will receive approval to purchase a gun. Once you receive your approval you can come to Caliber 3 to select a firearm that suits your needs.
But before you can take the gun home you'll need to go through a 4-hour training session to ensure that you know how to use your new handgun. This too you can do at Caliber 3.

Caliber 3 is approved by the Israel Ministry for Internal Security, Firearms Department to sell personal firearms to approved citizens and to provide the initial training and renewal testing.
